Vendors are the heart of our markets.

At the 2017 FMO Symposium, farmers’ market educator Michelle Wolf emphasized that vendors are the heart of our markets so if you’re a vendor, you have a responsibility to bring your A-game to your market.

Here are some tips to help you do that whether you’re a new vendor or selling at a new market for the first time!

  1. Always stand (don’t sit) at your stall and greet your customers. Smile, be warm and welcoming.
  2. Introduce yourself to your neighbours and be mindful of their space. For example, when you are done setting up for the day, move your vehicle out of the way to make room for them.
  3. Offer a good selection of your product and make sure you have enough to last throughout the market day.
  4. Keep learning, training and be willing to change and grow in order to help create a happy, friendly, cooperative market vibe!

These simple tips will help you settle in at your market as a new vendor! We also have a vendor supplies checklist, a customer service checklist and a great display checklist. Click this link to learn about the MyPick® Program and its benefits.
