Farmer's Markets to be applauded!! Buy local and buy fresh!
Buying at the farmers gate, with an extension, good for farmer good for consumer. Is there anything that cannot be sold at the market that is produced on farm? Eg. fresh frozen poultry, eggs, beef?? Got tons of questions I guess.

I have just been listening to Michael Pollan (past editor of
Harpers mag. He has written a book "In defence of food".
He was talking on WNED about the importance of getting out of the habit of eating fast foods. while ok for a treat, not good every day. We must get back to eating non-processed foods. Start a garden. Some are doing already. In East New York local people have begun this and have a farmers market every week. Out of season we can preserve like our grandmothers did. Schools should begin having healthy food for children, whereas right now they mostly feed kids with fast foods. Do not make the excuse that there is not enough time. It takes less time to cook a helthy meal than to watch a cooking program on the TV!
The big Agricultural farmers who grow to produce large quanties of produce for Macdonalds and other fast food producers are not doing future generations any favours.
Let more of us start doing the right thing and get back to healthy foods for our future generations.
