About the Perth Farmers' Market
The new Perth Farmers' Market was created and has been in operation since June 13, 1992. We are a member of Farmers Markets Ontario and the Perth and District Chamber of Commerce. Our Home The market has mostly been located in and around the Tay Basin in downtown Perth since its start. In 1994, the "Crystal Palace" was moved from Ottawa to its site on the basin and has added to the ambience of the market ever since. Many craft vendors sell inside the shelter of the building as well as it being an ideal location for special events of all kinds. The attractive and scenic location, free parking on Saturdays and "al fresco" eating tables combined with local music makes Saturday mornings at the market a winning combination. Our market is open, rain or shine, every Saturday morning from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM starting on the weekend of Mother's Day until the Thanksgiving Weekend. In July and August, a smaller market runs Wednesday afternoons (2pm-6pm) at the same location. There are also special Fall and Winter markets inside the Crystal Palace and a Seed Sale the first Sunday in March at the Royal Canadian Legion. Our Success Thanks to the founding people and many dedicated vendors, volunteers and customers, our market is one of the most interesting and vibrant in Ontario. Because of this success we have a steady core of vendors that offer high quality, and a good variety of produce, crafts and services. These are just some of the products you can find on any given market day: •local organically grown produce, •home baked pies, pastries and bread, •pickles, jams and preserves of all kinds, •confections •flowers, herbs and plants, •garlic, honey and maple syrup, •meat and eggs •weaving, juried crafts and jewellery •BBQ pork •Market Cafe Every Saturday one lucky patron wins the contents of the market basket which is filled with samples contributed by the vendors that day. ....
