Farmers’ Markets Ontario is launching a province-wide farm photo contest with over $500 in cash prizes available for winners in three categories.
Winning photos will be used in FMO’s marketing materials, featured in their newsletter, appear on their website, shared with Foodland Ontario, and distributed through social media.
There are 3 categories; Pretty Products, Market Mayhem and In the Field.
CATEGORIES
- Pretty Products – Beauty shots of ‘wares for sale’ at farmers’ markets. If possible include Foodland Ontario logo, our logo or both.
- Market Mayhem– Be creative! We’re looking for photos of people having fun while at a farmers’ market;
- In the Field – Photos of farmers/vendors at work, in the field, cooking, baking etc.
PRIZES
- $100 first prize in each category
- $50 second prize in each category
- $25 third prize in each category

Official Rules: “#ONFarmersMarketFresh Instagram Photo Competition” 2017
The #ONFarmersMarketFresh Photo Competition opens September 1, 2017 and closes on November 30, 2017. There will be nine prizes awarded, three for each category.
The deadline for submitting Photo Competition entries before the final draw is 11:59pm
Eastern Standard Time on November 30. The Photo Competition is sponsored by the Farmers’ Markets Ontario. No purchase is necessary to enter. Entry in the Photo Competition constitutes acceptance of the terms, conditions and provisions set out below.
This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram.
How to Enter
Eligible individuals may enter the Photo Competition via Instagram. Entries may be submitted via Instagram by using the following hashtag #ONFarmersMarketFresh and tagging @Farmers_Markets_Ont. Posts must be made to a public account.
1.1. Although individuals may enter the Photo Competition more than once, each entry must be different than the first. Each contestant is eligible to submit one (1) photo per day for the duration of the Photo Competition. Photos must be taken in Ontario.
1.2. Winning photos will be chosen from entries who follow Farmers’ Markets Ontario on Instagram (@Farmers_Markets_Ont) and have met the contest guidelines.
2. Prizes
2.1. The prizes to be awarded consist of a first, second and third prize for each of three categories.
1st Prize: $100 2nd Prize: $50 3rd Prize: $25
2.2. The odds of winning will depend on the number of qualifying entries received.
2.3. Shortly after the Photo Competition time period is completed on, a panel of Farmers’ Markets Ontario will select the top three photos in each category. The winning photos will be based on the quality and relevance of the photograph to the Photo Competition’s outline, one prize recipient will be selected. The selected entrants will be notified via Instagram when the winning photos are re-posted (with full credit given) to the winner’s account by Farmers’ Markets Ontario. The winning entrants will be asked to email fmo@farmersmarketsontario.com within 10 days following the draw to claim their prize.
Farmers’ Markets Ontario accept no liability for incorrect, incomplete or illegible contact information provided to it. Return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification of the selected entrant. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted in the manner described above, or if a selected entrant is not eligible or otherwise does not comply with the Photo Competition Rules, their entry will be declared void and another entry will be awarded the prize.
2.4. To claim any prize, selected entrants will be required to emailfmo@farmersmarketsontario.com within 10 days of being notified and provide a full mailing address.
2.5. Winners must be legal resident of Canada at the time the prize is awarded.
2.6. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Prizes are not transferable or convertible. No transfer, substitution, or conversion of prizes will be allowed, except by Farmers’ Markets Ontario as described below.
2.7. Except as expressly represented or warranted herein, all prizes are provided to winners “as is” without any additional or further representation or warranty of any kind.
2.8. No interest will be paid on any cash prizes.
2.9. All taxes, fees, and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winner.
3. Eligibility
3.1. The Photo Competition is open only to legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec. The Photo Competition is void where prohibited by law. The Farmers’ Markets Ontario, its agents, affiliates, and sponsors do not warrant that the Photo Competition may be entered legally in any particular jurisdiction. Farmers’ Markets Ontario reserve the right to terminate the Photo Competition or to modify the rules as necessary for any reason or as required by applicable law.
3.2. Only the creator of an image has the right to submit it. All entrants must ensure that they own the copyright. Prizes will be awarded to the entrants. Note: you may be asked to provide the original photograph.
3.3. Employees, agents, and representatives of the Farmers’ Markets Ontario, and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, the immediate family members of the foregoing, and those with whom any of the foregoing are domiciled, are not eligible.
4. General Provisions
4.1. By submitting an entry or claiming a prize, the participant agrees to be bound by all the terms, conditions, and provisions set out in these Photo Competition Rules.
4.2. The Photo Competition is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
4.3. All decisions of the Farmers’ Markets Ontario, and any judge or judges appointed by the Farmers’ Markets Ontario, with respect to any aspect of the Photo Competition shall be final and without appeal.
4.4. Farmers’ Markets Ontario accepts no liability whatsoever arising in respect of the participation in the Photo Competition by any individual or the awarding or use of the prize.
4.5. The name of the official Photo Competition may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope, during the one -year period commencing one month following the completion of the Photo Competition period to: Farmers’ Markets Ontario, #ONFarmersMarketFresh Instagram Photo Competition
4.6. Persons found to be tampering with or abusing any aspects of the Photo Competition, as determined in the sole discretion of the Farmers’ Markets Ontario, will be disqualified.
4.7. In the event that circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Farmers’ Markets Ontario result in the determination by the Farmers’ Markets Ontario, in its sole discretion, that the fairness or integrity of the Photo Competitions has been materially compromised, Farmers’ Markets Ontario reserve the right to suspend, delay or terminate the contest.
5. Privacy
5.1. By entering into the Photo Competition, you consent to the collection, use and sharing of information about you:
- Between Farmers’ Markets Ontario and its agents and representatives for the sole purpose of administering the contest;
- To initiate, maintain and develop a relationship with you in connection with the offering of goods and services of the Farmers’ Markets Ontario; and
- To make available to you from time to time information, promotional material, and other material which may be of interest to you.
5.2. By entering the Photo Competition, you consent to the use of and disclosure of your name and/or likeness, without compensation, by Farmers’ Markets Ontario for the purposes of the disclosure of the identity of prize winners and for the general promotional purposes of Farmers’ Markets Ontario in connection with the Photo Competition.
5.3. You may withdraw your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information at any time.
5.4. You have a right to challenge the accuracy and completeness of your personal information and to have it amended, as appropriate. You also have a right to request access to your personal information and receive an accounting of how that information has been used and disclosed, subject to certain expectations prescribed by law. For example, if the requested information would reveal personal information about another individual, your request for access may be limited or denied. To request access or to amend your personal information, please contact our Executive Director. Farmers’ Markets Ontario will respond within thirty (30) days receipt of your written request.
5.5. Farmers’ Markets Ontario will respond to inquiries about its policies and practices relating to its handling of your personal information. Inquiries should be directed to the Executive Director. Farmers’ Markets Ontario will investigate all complaints and will respond within 30 days of receipt of a written inquiry. If the complaint is found to be justified, Farmers’ Markets Ontario will take appropriate measures to resolve it, including, if necessary, amending this Policy and its procedures.
5.6. Like most other commercial websites and social media channels, Farmers’ Markets Ontario may monitor traffic patterns, site usage and related site information to optimize your visit to our website. To help you save time, we use a special feature called a “cookie” to help us provide customizable services to our consumers. Cookies are like mini-files that live on your hard drive and save your preferences so you do not have to re-enter the same information over and over again. Cookies do not damage your system or impair its functioning in any way. You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings of your browser. If you choose not to accept the cookies, your experience on this website may be diminished and some features may not work as intended.
5.7. While we welcome email inquiries, emails sent over the Internet is not secure and may be lost, intercepted, or altered. If you send personally identifiable information to us via email, we will not be liable if it is lost or intercepted, altered or misused by someone else.
