Farmers’ Markets Ontario® Best of 2018 Awards
Farmers’ Markets Ontario®Awards will recognize outstanding markets and market managers that are exemplary in adding value to their communities and the Ontario farmers’ market sector. Nominees will be judged by a committee including FMO board members, partners and stakeholders. Nominations will be accepted until 5 pm on November 30, 2018. Awards will be presented during the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention in February 2019.
1. Farmers’ Market of the Year award
FMO will recognize an outstanding market for their work and accomplishments during 2018.
Who is Eligible?
All FMO member farmers’ markets in good standing.
Selection Criteria
• Exemplifies the highest level of achievement in connecting farmers, producers and consumers by creating and maintaining a market atmosphere that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of the community and the bounty of its fresh, locally grown food, and artisan products.
• Provides a positive customer experience and creates community impact and engagement.
• Utilizes innovative ideas to build customer loyalty and attract new customers.
• Includes a diversity of vendors, displaying and selling quality products in a clean environment.

1. Nominations are open to an FMO member market manager/organizer and vendors.

2. Farmers’ Market Manager of the Year award
FMO will recognize an outstanding Farmers’ Market Manager for their work and accomplishments in their role as a Market Manager during 2018.
Who is Eligible?
All market managers of FMO member farmers’ markets in good standing.
Selection Criteria
• Exemplifies the highest level of achievement in connecting farmers, producers and consumers by creating and maintaining a market atmosphere that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of the community and the bounty of its fresh, locally grown food, and artisan products.
• Exemplifies sound and innovative business and people management practices; seeks out and develops strong community partnerships that are mutually beneficial.
• Represents the best of the farmers’ market sector in Ontario and actively works to promote and support sustainable agriculture, small farms and farmers.
How to Apply
1. Nominations must be submitted by an FMO member market’s Board of Directors, market manager/organizer and vendors.
