FMO Membership Insurance Program
FMO offers an insurance program specifically tailored to farmers’ markets. This program is only available to members of FMO. Coverages include:
$5 million Commercial General Liability
Covers all vendors for any bodily injury or property damage to third parties which occurs during its operation and, which the farmers’ market is deemed legally liable.
$100,000 Blanket Accident Form
Covers Board Members, Directors, volunteer workers and market managers against injury or loss of life caused by accidental bodily injuries arising out of and in the course of such duties, including travel to and attendance at such duties. Includes Weekly Indemnity for temporary or total disability.
$35,500 Property
Covers items which belong to the farmers’ market association, such as tables, signs, etc. This coverage does not extend to property which belongs to the individual vendors, such as tents/canopies, their own stall tables, etc.
$10,000 Crime & Commercial Blanket Bond
A robbery; employee dishonesty, e.g. a farmers’ market manager or leader absconding with stall fees.
Additional Notes:
a) Your municipality/landlord may ask to be listed as an “Additional Insured”. No problem, no extra charge. Just let us know!
b) The Co-operators insures your Association’s tents, canopies, signs and other equipment up to $35,500.
c) This insurance program is designed for the smaller, seasonal farmers’ markets…90% of our members.
d) The coverage details shown above are a synopsis and do not replace or alter the legal wordings of the insurance policy.
TYPES OF VENDORS EXCLUDED:
WINERIES, FRUIT WINERIES, CIDERIES, SPIRITS, BEER & RETAIL OR WHOLESALE OPERATIONS AWAY FROM IN THEIR COMMUNITY
This policy specifically excludes any liability arising from a vendor or producer of any alcohol, selling their product or offering samples at a farmers’ market.
This policy is not intended to provide coverage for storefront commercial owners, food trucks or other businesses whose primary operations occur away from the farmers’ market. If attending a farmers’ market coverage should be extended from their commercial storefront (or other business) insurance policy.
Must provide a COI (Certificate of Insurance) from their insurance company listing The Officers & Directors of Farmers’ Markets Ontario and “your farmers’ market” as Additional Insured.
