“I just love to see the plants grow from seed,” explains Jim when describing his longtime passion for horticulture. In the late 1980s the family relocated to the Almaquin Highlands and purchased property originally settled by Judy’s great-grandfather. Today, carefully selected seeds are nurtured in greenhouses, then transplanted and tended for 2 years to ensure suitability for northern climate conditions. Touring the extensive display gardens inspires novice gardeners and delights more experienced visitors. Jim & Judy’s daughter, Jenny, is poised to ensure that both history and passion will continue to thrive at Commanda Country Gardens.
