Is Your Farmers’ Market AED Ready to Be Found in an Emergency?
Imagine a shopper or vendor suddenly goes into cardiac arrest at your market. Someone calls 9-1-1, but when the dispatcher asks if there’s an AED nearby, would anyone know where to find one?

Every second matters during a cardiac arrest. And an AED can only help if people can find it quickly.
Across Ontario, there are thousands of AEDs in public places, but not all of them are currently visible to 9-1-1. That means an AED could be just steps away and still be difficult to locate in an emergency.
The Ontario government has established an official AED registry to help change that. Registered AEDs can be made visible to 9-1-1, helping emergency dispatchers identify nearby devices and direct callers to them when needed.
Does Your Market Have an AED?
If your farmers’ market has an AED, registering it is a simple step toward better emergency preparedness.
Registering your AED can help:
- Make it easier for 9-1-1 to find so callers can be directed to the nearest available AED.
- Save valuable time in an emergency by ensuring an AED is nearby and ready to use when it is needed most.
- Make your market safer for your community by helping ensure your AED is part of Ontario’s coordinated emergency response system.
- Whether your AED is in a First Aid tent, community building, or other public space, make sure it can be found when it matters most.
