“My family has been in the area since 1825, so our children are sixth generation farmers, and my wife Lise has farming roots as well,” says Bernard Leahy. Bernard and Lise purchased their farm in 1997 and gradually developed a purebred cattle herd for breeding stock and direct-to-consumer beef sales. “We raise our cattle on forage and grains and use breeds known for their gentle temperament, tenderness and high yield,” says Bernard. 100 % grass fed beef is also available in the fall. A small swine herd has been developed which allows for a full offering of pork cuts. The Leahys enjoy their strong community ties and happily share a rich family heritage and love of nature with their family.
